Charlton secured an amazing win against a strong Liverpool side. It was Vladimir Smicer scored the first goal as Harry Kewell hit a neat ball to Smicer who lifted it over Dean Kiely.

But Kevin Lisbie, who is currently on a scoring run, ran through with blistering pace to chip the ball over Jerzy Dudek, which rolled into the Liverpool net. It was Lisbie again who scored after a defensive mixup saw Lisbie hit a powerful shot into the net after it the Liverpool defence failed to clear it.

But on-loan defender Chris Perry appeared to hold back Liverpools Emile Heskey to conced a penalty, which Owen cooly converted, sending keeper Dean Kiely the wrong way.

Heskey also thought that he had restored the lead when he blasted a shot through the hands of keeper Dean Kiely only for it to be ruled offside.

Lisbie then became the new local hero completing a fabulous hatrick curling it to the left of keeper Dudek from outside the box. This came to the delight of Lisbie with fans singing his name. It was even more of a delight to him after he was jeered off by the Valley faithful against Man City
