Goals from Marc Pugh and Danny Hollands put the Cherries ahead after Scott Wagstaff`s opener for the visitors, who then snatched a point through Bradley Wright-Phillips late on.
Powell said: "My goalkeeper excelled himself when Bournemouth's pressure was at its most intense. He is a good goalkeeper and a good character and he showed great resilience when it mattered.
"We have had two good draws in a week now against Southampton and Bournemouth and we are showing more belief with every game.
"When Bournemouth went ahead 2-1 we could have lost heart but my players put their bodies on the line and if you give Bradley Wright-Phillips a chance he normally takes it.
"We had a lot of fans here and they saw another side of the players, with them all showing pride in the shirt. We have had a poor run lately, I admit, but all we can do is think to the future. I thought the players were a credit to the club."
