Christian Dailly was shown a red card for violent conduct in the 35th minute but Powell`s men held on for a hard-earned point.
Chances were few and far between in a hard-fought encounter in which defences dominated.
Powell said: "It shows the togetherness and work ethic that every one of the players dug in.
"I would like to commend them all and that includes our keeper (John Sullivan) who was very safe after coming into the side late because of an injury.
"It's a point against the odds and the clean sheet is welcome. They all performed well and the fans who came up here have seen that the players care."
