The Addicks took a second-minute lead through Johnnie Jackson`s penalty but the hosts battled hard despite the dismissal of captain Inigo Calderon to level through Glen Murray before half-time.
"In the first half, we had a couple of good opportunities and we had some chances in the second half," Parkinson told the club`s official website. "When you create that many you`d normally expect to take more than we did.
"I can`t fault the lads because it`s difficult against 10 men, as everybody knows.
"Brighton did a good job, you`ve got to give them credit, but when we passed it simply and switched the play, we looked good.
"All in all, I couldn`t have asked for more, and we`ll take a point."
