"This result will certainly make the other sides at the bottom very nervous.
"I'm delighted for all the staff and everybody at the club who have made me very welcome. I'm here to give a lead but I can't do that without their support.
"We didn't always look comfortable in the first half and I thought we were suffering from the effect of the effort that we put in in midweek against Fulham. But after the break we got into the tempo that I wanted.
"We have nine home games left and we need to win seven or eight of them. All our fixtures are tough, but in adversity you often get the best results.
"I thought Villa played some good quality football but it obviously helped us when they went down to 10 men.
"Nothing regarding relegation will be settled until April or May and we've just got to keep picking up points and keep battling away as we have been."
