"He had a big night," said Pardew.
"He's done well, he's really worked hard and you could see the joy in the other players when he scored.
"If he believed in himself a little bit more, he could be a really good player.
"It's been a dramatic jump for him. It wasn't long ago he was a non-League player and now he's playing for an ex-Premier League side.
"But he's handling it well, and now and then the senior boys seem to look after him and they do that."
The Addicks now face a tricky trip to Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night, and boss Pardew isnt getting carried away after last night's win.
"I enjoyed the way we played. I was really pleased," he added. "It was a fantastic atmosphere, with both sets of fans behaving themselves. The question mark from me is whether this team is good enough for promotion? It is.
"I'm wary of Sheffield Wednesday and that's the reason I'm not jumping up and down - we've got a big game in three days time."
