The 32-year-old only made his league debut against Arsenal on Boxing Day. He’s played in the Premiership for eight years with Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Everton although he’s had a tough time with injuries for the past year-and-a-half. He has also captained Norway in their last five games.
"I don’t blame the gaffer for not playing me while my contract talks were up in the air, but I did expect to start the season between the sticks."
"I think it’s gone well in the three (Premiership) games I’ve played although we can’t be happy with just one win from three (against West Ham on New Years Eve)."
Swedish international Stephan Anderson started the first 13 Premiership games of the campaign before Dean Kiely took possession of the jersey for four games including the 3-2 defeat in the Carling Cup against Blackburn, the 5-2 defeat by Manchester City at The Valley and the 3-0 defeat at Wigan.
He added, "It’s a team game and they (Anderson and Kiely) have supported me, just like I supported them when they were in."
