McEveley signed from Derby on Thursday deadline day and replaced Kelly Youga at left-back.
With only five loanees allowed in a matchday squad, caretaker boss Phil Parkinson has a choice which five of his seven loan players start and with Jonathan Fortune returning from injury, it looks as if Linvoy Primus will miss out.
New striker Deon Burton could be the other man to miss out, with Martyn Waghorn partnering Andy Gray in attack.
In midfield, Therry Racon is struggling with a knee injury picked up in Tuesday's 2-1 defeat to QPR but Parkinson hopes he can start.
Possible side for Southampton: Weaver, Cranie, Hudson(c), Fortune, McEveley, Gillespie, Racon, Semedo, Bouazza, Waghorn, Gray
