"It's been very difficult for him - he came back to pre-season but his family stayed in Italy. His father is 75 and he's torn a bit. The timing is bad to be honest. We'll have to sort it all out in the week.
"If he stays in Italy, we'll thank him for what he did last season; if he comes back we know he will have made a difficult decision."
He added: "He can't sign for Lazio because he's registered to us. We decide if he leaves.
"He's got some difficult decisions to make and we'll have to wait and see what happens. We will respect his decision."
