Curbishley, dressed in a dark suit with a yellow tie and clutching paperwork was dropped off along with Johnson, the liasion between Brian Barwick and the Addicks boss, by a chauffeur some 500 metres down the road.
Curbs laughed nervously as they waited on the steps before being let in by a housekeeper. Minutes afterwards, a blue Chrysler people-carrier containing Barwick stopped outside the property. He was led to the door by his chauffeur, who was ordered to drive repeatedly around the block.
Curtains were wide open and the three men could clearly be seen inside the house locked in discussion in the front room. There was a lot of hand waving and gesticulating as they talked. Curbs leant forward and appeared very passionate.
Then over two hours after the meeting had begun, Curbs showed Barwick and Johnson out. The pair jumped into the people carrier and sped off, leaving Curbishley alone in the house. He re-emerged just before 8pm and walked several hundred yards down the road before he was picked up.
